Alice The Cook.
Close your eyes and they'll come back, her father says, or they haven't left. And anyway, a womans place is in the kitchen so she can make me a sandwich, the one that appears early just in time to rise and catch the hind legs behind the sink, beneath the four clawed tub, under the swollen floorboards nobody fixes, in the corner of your eyes.
Alice, who takes the place of her mother, is okay that there is no one else to make sandwiches. Alice, who inherited her mama's rolling pun and cooking abilities is a young, pretty, and a man's woman. Is a good girl, my friend, cleans all night an cooks all day, and is afriad of nothing but being alone.

Irish Decent.
I, too, have no connections to my "homeland", i am also a "mutt" as the author so boldly put it. I am mostly irish, but i have many other origins, such as: Scotch, English, Bohemian (which is now a part of Russia), and believe it or not Indian. My house doesn't have any set culture idolized in it. The only thing accented in out house is our last name, Campbell, which is from Irish decent.
